Documents suggest the old town well dates back to 1050 AD. It has been rebuilt countless times since then, ensuring access to drinking water within the walls of the old town centre for centuries. The history of the town itself dates back to the same period. The most recent restoration work took place in the 1990s, when a large part of the old town centre was repaved.
